Communications Network

The Kobe International Conference Center and Kobe International Exhibition Halls are both connected to a 1 Gigabyte fiber optic network circuit to offer convention organizers integrated communication solutions between all the facilities and event spaces they wish to use.

Internet Connection
Whether using a wired or wireless LAN, a stable and reliable internet connection is always available. This reliable internet connectivity is available to users thanks to a 5-circuit 'multi-homing' system.
('Multi-homing' = access to the internet through multi-numbered lines. In comparison to single connection circuits, this prevents crowding on the network and any subsequent loss of speed / connectivity.)
Intranet Environment (Local Area Network)
Organizers can separate the wired LAN and wireless LAN into groups. IP addresses will automatically be assigned to conference delegate laptops regardless of which network (wired or wireless) is being used, to a maximum of 2,000 PCs or laptops.
Wired LAN
It is possible to network all Meeting Rooms and Lounges with 1Gbps. (1Gbps speeds available to individual laptops / user ports connected by a standard laptop RJ-45 cable and jack)
Wireless LAN
A Wireless LAN (WLAN) system allows uninterrupted connectivity while roaming and is available in all Meeting Rooms between the 3rd and 5th floors (except for Ante-Rooms 302-307) and in Lounges.
(Roaming automatically enables participants to have multiple access points without needing to change their connection settings).
  • Participants in any conference space (with school set-up) can connect simultaneously.
  • It is also possible for groups of both wired and wireless LAN users to connect simultaneously.
  • Security for specific groupings is possible over the WLAN. This is provided through an Extended Service Set Identifier (ESSID)/ and Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) key.
(The ESSID & WEP key are exclusive to the Kobe International Conference Center although Organizers are also able to set-up their own, specific, ESSID / WEP key if they require.)

Internet Connection
Reliable optical fiber internet connectivity is permanently installed.
The Lobby area is equipped with 4 PCs which can be used freely as an internet corner.
Intranet Environment (Local Area Network)
The LAN for the entire building can be divided into groups for individual halls, depending on how the Organiser is using the halls, or they can be joined as a single network.
VLAN can also be used. IP addresses are assigned automatically.
Wired LAN
Within the halls, wired internet connectivity is supplied by optical-fiber and Cat6 (category 6) cables allowing high speeds of up to 1Gbps.
Cat6 cables (separate from the main LAN) are installed around Hall Buildings 1 & 2 to handle dedicated audio and visual data feeds so that halls can be connected as Organisers require.
Wireless LAN
Within the Halls, there are public wireless internet services (connecting to wireless LAN services from other providers). These are available subject to Organiser requirements.
Some types of connectivity, for specific purposes or data volumes, may not be possible. (Please contact the KCVA for further details).
